JONKER is likely to have secured his future at Stud after claiming the $1 million Manikato Stakes at The Valley in an all-the-way triumph against some the Australia’s best sprinters.

The result was a hugely satisfying one for Wingrove Park as Jonker hails from the dam Hearts and Arrows, a second generation mare bred by the stud farm.

Now a winner of five races and over $2 million in prizemoney, Jonker has cemented himself as a topline sprinter by Spirit of Boom.

His dam Hearts and Arrows is a daughter of one of Wingrove Park’s foundation broodmares Villa Igea. Hearts and Arrows won her first two races under the care of Mick Kent when part-owned by the stud farm.

Now a Group 1 winning sprinter by Spirit of Boom, Jonker is likely to find his way to stud at the end of his racing career.

Wingrove Park have one of their own progeny currently standing at stud in Royal Symphony.
