WINGROVE Park was pleased to produce another black-type runner on Friday night, when two-year-old Sparks Burn finished third in the Listed St.Albans Stakes (1000m) at Moonee Valley.
The Niello gelding, trained at Bendigo by Shane Fliedner put in a courages effort to earn him the right of black-type credentials.
Ridden by Dan Nickolic, the outisder in betting settled last in the small field. Along way from leaders rounding the home-turn he chased home hard in the stright to finish third – right on the back of second placegetter Chinchilla (Lee Freedman).
Victory was taken out in a dominant performance by Peter Moody trained Golden Archer.
Sparks Burn is the latest from Wingrove Park’s sucesfull race mare Dual Spark. All four foals have been race-winners including Sparks Fly, El Spark & Sparks Alighht.
Earning this honour as just his second start, there looks to be a good future for Sparks burn who will now be spelled in progression for Spring Carnival campaign.
