Welcome from Joseph Vella | CEO Wingrove Park

July 2020

What a busy 12 months we’ve had! As we head towards the conclusion of the 2020/21 racing season it marks a year since Wingrove Park relocated to our new Lancefield property located in Victoria. We have hit the ground running making lots of improvements to our new equine establishment.

We have had major works in place constructing walk-in-walk-out boxes into every paddock and installing plastic fencing to ensure we maintain the best of safety practises when it comes to our horses. The horses are paramount and at the forefront of everything we do.

We have also worked hard behind the scenes introducing a reseeding program to boost the productivity of our equine pastures. Our Lancefield property was built on potato farming cropping land with rich red soil that contains excellent nutrition for the upbringing and health of to our horses. Plus, the introduction of back-up electricity and water pump systems.

Of course, while our relocation has taken up plenty of our time, our racetrack performances haven’t stopped. Greyworm has become one of the country’s most prolific winners and rounded out his campaign with a victory in the Group 3 Hall Mark Stakes at Royal Randwick.

Our famous “Sparks” family also continued to prosper and now boasts five-generations of Wingrove Park breeding and is something we are very proud of. Royal Symphony will also stand his first season at Stud and we wish Claremont Thoroughbreds all the best – it is every breeders dream to have their own progeny stand at Stud.

Wingrove Park’s band of broodmares are expected to be foaling down soon and we eagerly await the arrival of two foals by Magnus and one by Squamosa who have been expertly matched to our systems. We thank Sun Stud for their assistance this breeding season.

I would like to recognise the Wingrove Park team incorporating veterinarians, nutritionists, equine radiologists and many other equine specialists that assist our horses being in the winner's circle over the past 12 months.

Whilst a big thank you goes out to Shane and Briga Fliedner for their hard work and results throughout the season.

We thank you for your ongoing support and hope that you continue to follow the Wingrove Park horses on the track and utilise our various communication channels to stay in touch with our ongoing success into the new season.
