Welcome from Joseph Vella | CEO Wingrove Park

As the 2016/17 racing season come to a close and the foaling down period is about to commence, we take a look back at our achievements on and off the track.

What an exciting month it’s been! The racing landscape has been swept off its feet with boom colt Royal Symphony (Domesday x Naturalist) who proudly displays our JAV brand undefeated and installed favourite for the $2 million Caulfield Guineas on October 14, 2017. His incredible acceleration is sure to take Tony McEvoy’s colt deep into the spring and we couldn’t have been prouder to have him join the honour roll and become our fifth stakes winner.

Hopefully he can turn Wingrove Park into Group 1 winning breeders! His dam Naturalist has been a prolific producer and now enjoys retirement at the property with eight individual winners totaling 20 race victories.

From the same 2014 draft, Powerstrike (Lonhro x Sparks Fly) was on sold to Hong Kong following an impressive trial and we eagerly await his Hong Kong debut. Wingrove Park boasts a winning record overseas and hopefully this can be enhanced.

As it stands, the maroon and gold silks of Wingrove Park have found the winners stall on eight occasions this season. Pleasantly, this has been with five different horses providing much joy for each of their connections. Villa Igea continued to make her presence felt with one of her progeny In Fairness (Denman x Villa Igea) adding two city victories to his CV while relatives Her Command (Commands x Villa Igea) and Miss Octette (Octagonal x Irreversible) also registered wins.

In Fairness is sure to be a key contender at the Bendigo Racing Awards on August 12 – an evening that has seen us on the podium in previous years and we will be sure to keep you updated on the result.

With three healthy yearlings on the ground by leading stallions and a core group of broodmares, our thoroughbred stock will be enhanced when Dual Spark (Spartacus x Sparky Miss) delivers a foal by Wanted this season.

We have continued to enhance our property to ensure our facilities remain at the forefront of the industry, while our web services have also been enhanced with MiStable.

I would like to recognise the Wingrove Park team incorporating veterinarians, nutritionists, equine radiologists and many other equine specialists that assist our horses being in the winner's circle over the past 12 months.

Whilst a big thank you goes out to Shane and Briga Fliedner for their hard work and results throughout the season.

We thank you for your ongoing support and hope that you continue to follow the Wingrove Park horses on the track and utilise our various communication channels to stay in touch with our ongoing success into the new season.
