JUST A Spark is the fifth winner from as many foals to come from Wingrove Park’s foundation mare Dual Spark, after Wednesday’s maiden win in the Coopers & Sabois Maiden Plate (1700m).

After a frustrating six placings, the son of Artie Schiller relished the rise in distance and whilst still a long way off the front-runners turning into the straight he showed terrific acceleration to win in the final few bounds.

Partnered by Joe Bowditch who was having his fourth ride on the three-year-old, the John Hickmott trained runner attacked the line strongly to go on and defeat Holding The Baby (Daniel Clarken).

Sold at the 2011 Melbourne Premier Sale, Wingrove Park was thrilled to retain a share and enjoy the geldings racing prospects.

From the Spartacus mare Dual Spark, Just A Spark continues the winning tradition within the dam line being the fifth winner from as many starters. Whilst three foals in Sparks Fly, El Spark and Sparks Burn have each gone black-type, Sparks Alight has been a dual city winner and earner of over $138,372 whilst Just A Spark looks to pack plenty of potential as a staying prospect.

Congratulations to all the winning connections.
